Asiatique The Riverfront Bangkok
Asiatique The Riverfront Bangkok
Asia what?
I have not seen anything quite like Asiatique before.
Asiatique is a surprising combination of shopping mall, nightlife, restaurants, as well as amusement park all in one space located away from the city center. Popular among local teenagers, this place is slowly gaining popularity from curious tourists who wish to experience a more laid-back atmosphere outside of jam-packed Bangkok.
We arrived early in the evening by boat, giving us just enough time to tour the entire area at our leisure before the crowd started swarming in. Shops are only fully open for business at 5pm.
How to Get to Asiatique Bangkok
There are a few ways to get to Asiatique, but if you are a tourist on a budget, the best way would then be by boat using the Chao Phraya river. Alternatively, you can also get there by car/bus:- Take the BTS and alight at the Saphan Taksin Station (S6).
- Board the Asiatique Shuttle Boat which will drop you right at Asiatique. Journey takes about 15 minutes.
Greeted by the most awesome-smelling blocks of seasoned meat near the entrance - an indication of the start of a very delightful gastronomic experience that evening
Great view from across the river
Love locks can now be found all around the world, not just in Paris.
50-100 baht for each one of these
Locals love bringing their pet dogs here. These two adorable fellows apparently have their own Instagram page.
Simple yet exceedingly satisfying seafood meal by the river
Asiatique undoubtedly looks much better at night, with bright lights against the black backdrop:
Took the boat to get back and the journey was graced with beautiful sights of skyscrapers and landmarks:
Asiatique is definitely worth the visit as it offers one of the best riverfront attractions in Bangkok. Moreover, not every tourist knows of it yet so hurry up and see it now!
